Press Release - EC Tashi Reviews Developmental Activities Under Tourism Sector In Kargil


KARGIL JULY 26, 2020: Executive Councilor for Tourism and Zanskar Affairs Er Phunsog Tashi today convened a meeting to review the progress of ongoing and newly approved works under Capex Budget , State Sector and Special Development Package (SDP) 2020-21 for Tourism sector in the district.

Assistant Director Tourism, Kargil Aga Syed Taha, Executive Engineer, Kargil Development Authority (KDA) and Zanskar Development Authority (ZDA), Sajjad Hussain Wazir, representatives of KDA and ZDA and other concerned officers attended the meeting.

During the course of the meeting Assistant Director Tourism, Kargil Aga Syed Taha and In Charge Chief Executive Officer Kargil Development Authority (KDA) and Zanskar Development Authority (ZDA) presented overall physical and financial achievements of the ongoing projects and status of preparation of DPRs of the newly approved projects under various sector in the district till date.

The officers concerned informed the EC that under the Capex Budget 2020 for the first time both KDA and ZDA were included by LAHDC Kargil and an amount of Rs 1.50 Crores have been approved for each development authority.

It was further given out that funds to the tune of Rs 2.00 Crores for Assistant Director Tourism Kargil, Rs 2.00 Crores for AD Tourism Zanskar, Rs 3.33 Crores for KDA and Rs 3.20 Crores for ZDA has been approved under the State Sector Plan for construction of various ongoing and new infrastructure in the district. 

While underlining the need to ensure completion of the projects as per the stipulated time lines, EC Tashi stressed all the executing agencies to expedite the tendering process considering the short working season.

He also directed the engineers to ensure expenditure of the approved funds so that infrastructure and other facilities could be created for Tourism sector in the district.

The EC further said that sufficient provision of funds have been kept in the proposals for preservation and promotion of pilgrimage tourism in the district.
