Independence Day, 2020: Full Dress Rehearsal Held in Kargil

KARGIL AUGUST 13 : The full dress rehearsal in connection with the 74th Independence Day celebrations was held at Khree Sultan Choo Sports Stadium Bemathang here today.

Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Baseer ul Haq Choudhary hoisted the national flag and took the salute.

SSP Kargil Dr Vinod Kumar, ASP Kargil Iftikhar Talib Choudhary,ACR Kargil Shabir Hussain, Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD), Kargil Ghulam Muhammad besides other concerned officers of Civil and Police Administration attended the full dress rehearsal function.   

No march past and cultural programmes were held this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic situation. 

Later, the Deputy Commissioner inspected the arrangements made for Independence Day celebrations in the district where the main function will be held at Khree Sultan Choo Sports Stadium, Bemathang Kargil.

The DC took stock of the various aspects of the function including arrangements put in place at the venue like security, seating arrangements, parking, sanitation, setting up of screens for presentation of pre-recorded cultural programmes besides other related necessary arrangements.

Baseer issued instructions to all concerned departments to ensure that all necessary arrangements are made well in advance.

The DC called for close coordination between departments to ensure proper communication for the smooth conduct of the function. He also asked the concerned departments to ensure strict observance of social distancing norms and other related COVID-19 SOPs, thorough maintenance of venue, cleanliness and proper parking facilities for all visitors.

Officers of R&B, PHE, PDD, Health, Education Information, Municipal Committee, Tourism, Cultural Academy besides other district and sectoral officers were present on the occasion. 

Meanwhile, the full dress rehearsal was also held at Sub Division Drass, Zanskar, Chiktan, Sankoo and Shargole.
