Jammu and Kashmir Reserved 4 per cent Seats in Engineering and Medical Colleges for Ladakhi students.

The Jammu and Kashmir administration announced to reserve four percent seats in their engineering and medical colleges for the  students of Union Territory of Ladakh. An official spokesman said that this decision was taken in a meeting under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary BVR Subrhmanyam. 

He said that reservation in professional institutions is determined according to the Jammu and Kashmir reservation act and rules, in which the amendment has been amended after the restructuring of Jammu and Kashmir. This Act and Rules are not applicable to Union Territory Ladakh. The Chief Secretary said, "Unlikely in the Union Territory of Ladakh and the recommendations of the Advisory Committee formed by the Government of India, in view of the recommendations of Jammu and Kashmir for the students of Ladakh to reserve 4 percent seats.
