Market Checking Continues in Kargil Town. Rs 9900 fine imposed against violators

KARGIL NOV 03,2020: Continuing with the process of market inspection for the second consecutive day today, the Market Checking Squad of District Administration under the directions of the Deputy Commissioner/District Magistrate and CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Baseer ul Haq Choudhary, conducted intensive market inspection from Baroo to Petrol Pump and Tumail Colony area and checked the quality and prices of essential commodities.

The team led by Naib Tehsildar Kargil Muhammad Hassan comprised of the members of the Enforcement Wing of the Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA), Kargil, Police Department and Municipal Committee (MC), Kargil held the checking of grocery shops, vegetable shops, tea stalls  and other business establishments.

During the course of inspection, the team thoroughly checked more than 50 business establishments out of which 17 establishments were penalized on spot for violation of the provisions of Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 and Essential Commodities Act and a fine of Rs 9900/- was imposed against the violators. 

Huge quantity of stale and expired food items were also seized and destroyed on spot.

Meanwhile, the District Magistrate Kargil has directed officers to conduct frequent market checking and appealed all traders to ensure proper adherence to the set standards and warned of stern action against  violators under rules.
